Dr Yatan Pal Singh Balhara is currently serving as an Additional Professor of Psychiatry at National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India. He was awarded MD (Psychiatry) from AIIMS, New Delhi in the year 2006. Subsequently, he completed International Masters in Addiction Studies that was offered as a joint program by the University of Adelaide; King’s College, London; Virginia Commonwealth University, USA. He participated in the first batch of the International Masters in Mental Health Policy and Services offered by World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with NOVA University of Lisbon.
At AIIMS, he is consultant at the Dual Disorders Clinic and Behavioral Addictions Clinic. He also offers consultancy to World Health Organization and UNODC and is a Global Master Trainer for The Colombo Plan and UNODC on Drug Demand Reduction.
He has published more than 200 articles on various issues related to addictive disorders and mental health. Dr Balhara is one of the founding members of the WADD and has been actively engaged with the association since its inception.
